First 3

Garaža Kamba becomes something like Škvadra’s temporary archive, which gathers reflections on previous works of this collective, accumulated artistic interests as well as questions related to collectivity to which possible answers are sought and new questions are opened. Entering into a dialogue with the spatial defaults of the garage itself, the thought of overcrowding emerged as a common denominator, which is approached from three perspectives – the space of intimacy, the space of expectations and the space of production without a tangible goal.

…the perfect ones build a series of simple unpredictable events in which the audience and the performers exchange something through movement, watching and listening, which has its own topic that is split up through bodies in mutual relation or not, while creating a system that has its own logic, rhythm of work , the meaning, reasons and solutions understood by its performers, which in turn manifests itself through walking, looking, gestures, movement, running…which are transformed into a method for building a micro world in which movement lives and establishes, respects and violates its rules to create disorder and disharmony, inability to follow, not knowing the boundaries between A and B or not…

Closeness to everything – transformed into music becomes a world that can be heard
Garaža Kamba – turned into a stage, gives space to that world
The camera – through which everything is connected, becomes a way of seeing
Dance – transformed into the language of the story of a world where there is no Distance
The work There is no distance is in the format of an experimental dance film composed of 4 episodes and their interludes. In the episodes Job, Sea, Trip and Two Sisters, stories or sentences from the book Blizina svega (Ante Zlatko Stolica) are used as a starting point for working on dance material.
The stories are treated in four different ways through which the process of translating the text into movement, state, body expression, reaction, dance for the camera is entered. Closeness to everything as a reference point of the work comes from the need to explore expressions of closeness and study the relationship of being with yourself, with yourself and the sentence, with yourself and the dance, with yourself and you, with yourself and the world, with the world and with us.
The performance enters into a dialogue with the view of the author who zooms in on everyday little things and gives them space to become “big”. Adopting such a way of seeing, the dance performance is built by prioritizing details over totals, invites participation in intimacy from a distance, a distance that disappears as a result.
Although the work is two-dimensional, it enters the performances by dividing space and dance language, adding light, sound and voice. Regardless of the fact that he does not share the same time and air of ‘live’ performances – he tries to get as close as possible.

I wake up in the morning and think – does this all make sense?
Then I read the news – nothing makes sense.
I make breakfast – this makes total sense.
I’m going to the rehearsal because that’s my meaning. I perform, write, produce, choreograph, think, search, I don’t know…
I’m thinking again – the rehearsal is in the garage, I have to check if it’s going to rain. Yes, in a real garage, Garage Kamba. Four performers are waiting for me there, performing a nonsensical meaningful performance that we have come up with.
They bang, they are loud, they do something… they do a dance, a performance, a real garage is a real stage for them. At that moment, it seems that I will not wake up in the morning with the question, does it all make sense?
