I AM MISSING, CAN U CALL MY OWNER?

From general saturation and lack of free time, we step into an increasingly certain loss of self and stable ground under our feet, which is what the artist Ivana Stećuk deals with through burnout syndrome. Fragments of her personality in the form of internet posts and posters on the streets of the city are left to us as crumbs of cookies that we follow in the virtual (cookies) and real world, which leads us to the culmination realized in the interior of the garage-exhibition space. Partly resembling the announcements about missing pets wanted by their desperate owners, and on the other hand with a clear association to the missing persons ads, the posters insinuate to alienation, absence and the desire for distance with an aggressive guerilla approach. In the name of the exhibition-action I Am Missing, Can U Call My Owner? there is an allusion to a lost dog, a mixed-breed dog that is called mill leches (translated as a thousand milks) in Spain and the Canary Islands, which, with some bizarre correlations, brings us back to the installation in the form of a tetrapack of milk. During the eighties, until the late nineties, there was a practice in the United States of printing photos of missing children on cartons of milk, so that information could reach as many people as possible on the frequently used foodstuff. In this context, a link can be drawn that, apart from the main theme of the work, refers to the blurred and intersecting borders of identity, but also the end of childhood as the end of innocence and illusions about the world.
In addition to the burnout of stability and emotional, physical and mental exhaustion, this idea of the end of childhood reappears through the reinterpretation of the Christmas Eve tradition of leaving milk and cookies. Insinuating the anticipation of the arrival of a fictitious character who will never come, the question remains who will we find instead?
