Opening

The opening of the Art Garage Kamba gallery, whose space in the courtyard of Ilica 37 was transformed from a garage into an exhibition space as part of the Ilica Project/Ilica Readymade festival, will take place on Thursday, May 11th, at 6:00 PM in the courtyard of Ilica 37. Art Garage Kamba gallery follows a pop-up concept of an occasional gallery and will be open in the future depending on the project and exhibition. It will develop programs for presenting young artists, conceptual and environmental art, eco-art, the promotion of creative industries, and involving the public in its programs.
About the Ilica Project/Ilica Readymade
The Ilica Project is a cultural and artistic project conceived as a multi-year, multidisciplinary project. Its aim is to develop new models for utilizing currently neglected and unused spaces in Ilica and its surrounding streets, revitalize courtyard areas, preserve its artisanal workshops through the activation of artistic and cultural practices, actively engage citizens, and open up new cultural content. The project focuses on the development of a social community to revitalize Ilica, one of the longest and oldest streets in Zagreb, which, with more than 500 addresses, stands as a recognizable symbol of the city.
The Ilica Readymade festival, serving as the first open days of the Ilica Project, took place from May 5 to May 12, 2017, at numerous locations along Ilica. Through cultural programs, lectures, and presentations, the festival aimed to activate creative and cultural industries and employ participatory methods to actively involve citizens in shaping the life and identity of the local community.
The conceptual framework of the festival was developed by Aleksandar Battista Ilić, Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts, and Ivana Nikolić Popović, President of the Croatian Competitiveness Cluster for Cultural and Creative Industries.
