Zdenko and cockroaches

In this modern, information congested world, in a world full of anxiety, in a world of continuous phenomena, shifts and disorders, it is sometimes difficult to live. Not to abide, but to live vibrantly, vigorously, vividly. To stop, to breathe, to see. In its fullness. To understand life is also composed of a dusk-lit street, of familiar place, of successful joke, of new conversation. It is composed of all “our” people, friends and colleagues, acquaintances, and those passersby that mark the moment. The wealth of life. The community, however narrow or broad we understand and feel it. These are the lessons the most unstable murals in the city want to warn us about. Although they are created by Mikša in a solitude and automated manner, they are by no means just his interrelating ideas. These are sums of realities, the ones we are inscribed within. Inscribed in communities, in spaces, in events, in day-to-day life, and in intangible moments. The unfinished drawing particularly reflects this. The void isn’t intimidating. They give a chance to share with others. To recognize ourselves both literally and figuratively, and accept we’re a part of at least some shared experience. They invite us to join in, to inscribe and recognize the role we play and, as fleeting this moment is, and this exhibition, and this mural (which will soon be gone) – we enjoy it. We enjoy the endless opportunities that arise from interdependence and, despite it may not be the case at all times, to look at the charm of society and its companionship.
